Florida CB wants to visit Tech
Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School cornerback Jhavon Williams was visited by Texas Tech last week and it looks like there is a good chance he may return the favor this summer.
"Yes, sir. Coach Otis Mounds came out to see me and we had a good talk. He's great," Williams said. "He seems like an awesome coach and a really great guy. I can absolutely see myself making a visit out to Texas Tech sometime in the next few months."
Aside from Tech, Williams listed Purdue, Georgia, Florida State, Illinois, and Kansas as the programs he's hearing from the most right now. He did, however, separate Tech as the school recruiting him the hardest.
"I'd say Tech is on me the most. Coach Mounds has talked about me being a shutdown corner for them and of course that's what every defensive back wants to here. I know there's a lot of work to do between now and then, but coaches showing that kind of confidence in you will get your attention. I think there might be a chance to play early there so it's definitely interesting to me."
The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has considered the difficulties of playing away from home, but it doesn't sound like the miles between Florida and Texas will be a huge factor in his decision.
"I'm just looking for the right situation for me," he said. "I just want to play big time college football, and I want to find the best place to have a chance to succeed personally. Texas Tech is looking really good right now."
"I've been doing some research to find out more about them. Of course I know Michael Crabtree. He's a big name and I remember watching him play there, and just how crazy the crowds were. Those are two things that have stood out to me. I'm definitely interested in the Red Raider nation."
