Ben Doster
DeaconsIllustrated.com Royal Palm Beach (Fla.) outside linebacker Teddy Matthews signed with Wake Forest at 11:11 AM today, Feb. 1.
Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Mattews as a three-star recruit.
Matthews committed to Wake Forest Jan. 22.
"I just felt like once I got there, the environment and the whole atmosphere of Wake Forest fit me as a person and as a football player," Matthews said in a prior interview with Rivals.com's Chris Nee. "I just like how it is a good combination between athletics and academics. They value their academics just as much as they value their athletics. They have a good balance. That is what stood out to me mostly."
Royal Palm Beach made an appearance in the first round of the state playoffs, and finished with a 7-4 record.
Matthews said Wake's coaches have not decided where to put him, but he can play both outside and inside linebacker.
