Dream come true for Williams

Defensive back Jhavon Williams of Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central was one of the Florida additions to the class of 2012 at UConn. Now days away before his move to Storrs, Williams looked back at the last few months since National Signing Day and looks ahead to his time at UConn.

"Since Signing Day I just locked in mentally on school up until I graduated," said Williams. "Since graduation I've been putting in extra work with some local football standouts like Tampa Bay Buccaneer Preston Parker, former Hokie Jayron Hosley and a few former teammates. We work six days a week, both in the field as well as in the weight room."

During these workouts, Williams has had a few goals in mind.

"My main focus has been to get bigger, faster and stronger, so that when I begin my collegiate career I can make the biggest impact possible," said Williams, who is 5-foot-11 and 180-pounds.

Since National Signing Day, Williams has also attempted to solidify his bond with the UConn coaching staff.

"Coach Brown and I talk twice a week," said Williams. "We talk about how I'm going to have to compete and work hard to help maintain a dominating secondary."

This weekend Williams will make his move from Florida to Connecticut.

"Words can't express how excited and ready I am," said Williams. "Dreams do come true, and I can't wait to take full advantage of my opportunity."

Williams' family is making sure that he goes up to Storrs in the right frame of mind.

"They are excited as well, but more importantly they preach to maintain being a student-athlete," said Williams. "They tell me to be a student first and then football."

Finally, Williams was asked if he had any personal goals for his freshman year at UConn.

"I plan to do whatever is asked of me for my team to be the best," said Williams. "After that whatever happens, happens."
